It's frequently mentioned in popular Korean variety shows like Single's Inferno and Transit Love, where cast members often ask each other’s MBTI results to better understand relationships' compatibility.

MBTI breaks down personality into 4 key categories, each with 2 opposite tendencies:

Energy Source & Attitude

  • (E): Extraversion- You thrive on external interaction, loving social activities and drawing energy from being around others.

  • (I): Introversion- Your energy comes from within, preferring independent thinking and quiet reflection to recharge. 

Processing

  • (S): Sensing- You focus on what you can see, hear, and touch, paying attention to practical details and facts.

  • (N): Intuitive- You rely on gut feelings and imagination, always looking at possibilities, big ideas, and abstract concepts.

Decision Making

  • (T): Thinking- You base decisions on logic and objectivity, focusing on facts and what’s right. 

  • (F): Feeling- You consider emotions and values, aiming for harmony and empathy in your decisions.

Lifestyle & Approach

  • (J): Judging- You like plans and organization, preferring clear goals and structure in your life.

  • (P): Perceiving- You’re flexible and open-minded, enjoying the journey and exploring different possibilities along the way.​

Assertive & Turbulent

  • (A): Assertive- You always stay calm and don’t stress much, typically stress-resistant and even-keeled.

  • (T): Turbulent- You tend to be more self-conscious and stress-sensitive.

How the Types are Formed?

 

After figuring out which aspect you prefer from each pair, you take the letter of each of your preferred traits and put them together to form your type, keeping them in the same order they are listed here.

For example, you may get ENTP-T meaning you are Extroverted, Intuitive, Thinking, Perceiving, and Turbulent. Or you could get the opposite, ENTP-A, which would be Assertive.  According to MBTI theory, you are then assigned different function stacks, which are interesting to learn about in everyone's learning journey.
